2012 Wedding Packages

Dear Newlyweds-To-Be:

After listening to my clients' concerns, wants, and needs, and also learning from my own experiences as a professional wedding photographer over the past eight years, I am very excited to announce that I am implementing some new policies in order to better serve my clients in 2012!

Customer satisfaction has always been my top priority. However, because I am a "one-woman show" and handle every aspect of this business myself (photography, editing, scheduling appointments, processing orders, etc.), I have learned the hard way that it is possible to spread myself too thin. It is for this reason that I recently made the decision to dedicate my business exclusively to wedding and boudoir photography. Furthermore, beginning in 2012, I have decided to limit the number of weddings booked to only two or three per month, depending upon the month. This will allow for more editing time between weddings and, hopefully, improved turn-around time for my clients.

Unfortunately, not all problems have such obvious solutions. Perhaps the biggest threat to maintaining customer satisfaction for me is the sheer unpredictability of life, which is, unfortunately, a factor that is impossible to eliminate or control. Although rare, there have been a few instances over the past eight years when personal circumstances have regrettably caused delays in my ability to deliver to my clients their purchased items in a more timely manner. However, because I am unable to predict when or if other such circumstances may occur in the future, I am also unable to guarantee a certain date by which my clients will receive all of their wedding package items (wedding albums, prints, CD-Rom, etc.). It is for this reason I am implementing a new payment policy for my 2012 wedding photography packages, which I believe will give my clients better peace of mind in this regard, as well as make the wedding packages more affordable. The new payment policy is as follows:

In order to book your wedding date, a non-refundable deposit of 30% of the wedding package price is due at the time of booking. However, I am now only requiring 40% of the package price be due one week before your wedding date, as opposed to the entire balance paid in full. The final remaining balance of 30% will then be due upon the receipt of your purchased wedding package items (wedding albums, prints, CD-Rom, etc.).*

Furthermore, if after six months you have not yet received the above-mentioned wedding photography package items, your balance due upon receipt of the items will be reduced from 30% to 20%. If after nine months you still have not received your purchased items, the balance due upon receipt will be reduced to only 10%. Finally, if you have not received your purchased wedding package items one year after your wedding date, the balance due upon receipt will be completely eliminated.*

*These new policies are not retroactive and apply ONLY to wedding packages booked during 2012. If you are getting married in 2012, but booked your wedding in 2011, then these policies do not apply, unless otherwise specified.

Please remember that such extended delays are not typical. Typically, clients will be able to see all of their fully edited wedding photos in a password-protected online gallery within 4-6 weeks from their wedding date. At that point, the wedding prints, album, etc. will be ordered and then prepared by me for final delivery to the clients. Final delivery times vary depending upon the printing time at the photo lab, supply and printing time with the wedding album supplier (for personalized album covers), as well as the shipping time for those items. However, it is uncommon for the final delivery of all items to take longer than six months from the wedding date.

I Need Your Help!

As you may or may not already know, I have a passion for boudoir photography, which I typically shoot in my studio. While the studio sessions are fantastic, I would also like to be able to offer my clients the option of shooting on-location with natural lighting. The problem, of course, is finding a location that is not only interesting and appropriate for this type of photography (extremely tasteful lingerie and/or nude photographs of women), but is also completely private. So, this is where you come in.

I'm posting this blog to ask if anyone may know of such a place that I could rent for occasional on-location boudoir photo sessions? Ideally, I'd love to find a big, empty, kind of abandoned-looking space, perhaps with exposed brick walls or even peeling paint. Unused office or apartment space, an empty warehouse, or any similar type of space that may even be under construction could work for this idea. I am open-minded as to the aesthetics, but my one major requirement is that the space MUST have plenty of natural light, either from multiple windows or one large window.

Another location option would be to find someone who owns a large, beautiful home with lots of antique or high-end furniture, which I could rent either hourly or by the day for boudoir sessions. The homeowner would have to be able to guarantee 100% privacy during the scheduled photo session(s). If the homeowner is uncomfortable leaving the house, he/she must agree to stay behind closed doors for the duration of each photo session. Also, I would prefer that no children or uncaged pets be inside the home while I am shooting.

Boudoir!

The phone conversations always typically start the same way. "Um, hi. I was calling to ask if you do....well....I hope you don't think I'm weird for asking you this, but just out of curiosity..." It is usually at this point that I will put the shy caller out of her awkward misery and simply reply, "Yes, I do boudoir photography."

In fact, second to weddings, boudoir photography is my favorite thing to do! I have never had one single client leave a boudoir session that didn't feel completely beautiful (not to mention smoking hot!) and incredibly anxious to see her final images, even though she had entered my studio an hour to two ago complaining about her body and feeling totally self-conscious.

My Latest Obsession

My fellow photo enthusiasts, I would like to introduce you to a new website called [FRAMED]. I somehow stumbled across this site about a month ago and I've been completely hooked ever since. Every Tuesday they post a new video featuring photographers of various specialties from around the United States. I have always loved documentaries that allow me to watch other photographers work and talk about their passion and philosophies about what they do, so this site is right up my ally!

[FRAMED] also has a lot of great giveaways, and this week I've decided to throw my hat into the ring. Episode 8 featured photographer Carlin Sundell, who is known for telling elaborate stories with his photographs. Therefore, [FRAMED] is asking people to submit a photograph that also tells a story. I am submitting the following photo, which I put together just before Halloween of last year for a 365 project I am currently working on. Just when I thought my telephone woes couldn't get any worse, I lose my iPhone. This one is perhaps the most frustrating because I distinctly remember putting my cell phone underneath my pillow as I fell asleep last Saturday night. However, when I looked under the pillow the next morning to retrieve it, it was gone. Just...POOF! I immediately called my phone from a land line, but it went straight to voicemail (the battery was low when I went to bed, so it must have died during the night).

Believe me, I have turned the bedroom upside down looking for it. Actually, I have turned two different houses upside down trying to find my phone! I have retraced ALL my steps. I have dumped out my purse, searched cars, porches, yards, you name it. I plan to do yet another extremely thorough search later today, but as of right now my cell phone seems to have vanished into thin air. Communication Break Down!

First of all, I would like to apologize to anyone who has been unable to reach me in the last several months. It is literally almost unbelievable the amount of problems I have had with both my phone line and my email! I will spare you the long explanation and just cut to the chase:

The best way to reach me right now is via email, which has recently changed thanks to Verizon switching over to another company called Frontier (hence, the cause of my email woes). My new email address is cbellphoto@frontier.com. Please note, however, that my Spam filter through Microsoft Outlook is VERY sensitive and sometimes email that isn't spam gets filtered there. I try my best to check it often, but sometimes emails can slip by me and end up in the Spam folder. Therefore, if you haven't received a reply from me within a few days, please feel free to send another email.

Again, I cannot apologize enough to those of you who may have been trying to reach me recently. I'm still working on the phone situation, but for now the email problem seems to be resolved (minus the sensitive Spam filter issue). New Year, New Outlook

Hello Friends! I know that I've been MIA recently as I have struggled to get through my first set of holidays without my husband, so I just wanted to take a moment to thank each and every one of you who have sent me kind thoughts and prayers to help me get through this very difficult time. It has not been easy, to use the understatement of the year, but I am slowly gaining momentum and trying to get back to life as I once knew it.

I also wanted to take a moment to talk about my goals and plans for Courtney Bell Photography in 2010. Obviously, last year was the most difficult year of my life and it has really made me step back and re-evaluate a lot of things in my life. As far as my business is concerned, I have decided that in 2010 I will probably focus mainly on my two favorite genres of photography - weddings and boudoir. Some of you may find that to be an odd combination, but I would really love to see boudoir photography "take off" this year. I feel there is a demand for it in the Huntington area, as evidenced by the number of bashful inquiries I have received and the very successful Boudoir Day event I held last summer, but I think a lot of women are still timid and simply unaware of how rewarding these photo sessions can be (for both you and your significant other!). I would love to book more boudoir sessions in 2010, so if you or someone you know has been thinking about booking such a session please let me know! Get your girlfriends together, bring a bottle of wine and make a night of it at my very private studio. I promise you will have a blast!

As for weddings, this has always been my favorite genre of photography. Weddings are like the photography Super Bowl to me! However, because I have been so overwhelmed with trying to catch up my 2009 clients' wedding packages, I have decided to scale back my wedding packages for 2010. This will come as very good news for many of you as the prices have dramatically decreased from the 2009 packages. However, this is because I am no longer including as many "goodies" in the Divine and Exquisite packages, such as the wedding coffee table books or wedding DVD's. All such items ARE still available, though, if you would like to add them to the package of your choice. A list of all the items I offer can be found under the heading "Additions/Substitutions" on my wedding pricing page.

As I mentioned above, I will mostly be focusing on weddings and boudoir photography this year, but I will still consider booking family portraits, children's portraits, and Senior portraits on an individual basis. It will just depend upon how busy I am at the time you request a session, but please do not hesitate to call and inquire.

Again, thank you to everyone who has been so extremely supportive and patient with me as I have been working towards getting both my business and personal life back on track. I know it hasn't been easy for some of my clients and for that I truly apologize from the bottom of my heart, especially since I have also been dealing with the added headache of a phone/voice mail issue over the last few months, but I am slowly and surely getting everything taken care of. Dear Friends and Potential Clients...

I am aware that many of you have been or may have been trying to contact me via email and telephone, but I have been unavailable for quite some time. While I am not usually one to air dirty laundry in such a public forum, this has already been in the Herald-Dispatch and on the local news, plus I feel those of you who have not heard what has happened recently deserve an explanation for my sudden absence, so here it goes:

On August 17, 2009, my husband, whom I had been separated from for only a short time, came to my home and took his own life in my living room. I am leaving out many, many details, of course, including events that lead up to this, but the bottom line is that I have not been in my home or had access to my computer for a very long time. I have also not checked my voice mails because I know there are messages from him on there that I'm not sure I am ready to listen to yet.

I am simply being as honest as possible by telling you that, yes, I am EXTREMELY behind in my photo editing, to the point where I cannot even begin to tell you what my turn-around time is currently. I have had many wonderful, thoughful offers from other local photographers to try to help get me caught up in that regard, but I feel that the editing process is creatively just as important as the shooting process and, therefore, I still prefer to do all of my editing myself. They just would not feel like "my" photographs otherwise. I am also adamant about continuing to take my time while editing and not rushing through the process simply to try to get myself caught up as quickly as possible.

Most of my existing clients have been extremely patient and understanding with me about this and I honestly cannot thank you enough. For those of you upset about having to wait for such a long time to see your photos, I cannot blame you. I would be upset as well. All I can tell you is that I am struggling daily just to re-establish a normal routine and get through each day, let alone get caught up with editing without compromising the quality of my work. If there is a compromise you would like to try to reach in order to receive your photos sooner, even if it means they are not completely edited, I am open to any suggestions you may have. Again, thank you all for being so very patient with me during this extremely difficult time. Well, it looks like we need your help and support one more time. I have been working on this for a loooong time, ladies, and now Courtney Bell Photography is finally pleased to announce the premiere of "Boudoir Day"!!! This is a very special event that will be taking place on Saturday, July 25, 2009, which gives you girls plenty of time to plan for this unique, ultra-deluxe boudoir session. Some of you may recall a blog I posted not too long ago about a fun pin-up shoot I did at a local tattoo parlor with my good friend, Sarah. Well, after another recent studio session with her I decided to submit some of her photos to the 2010 Kitten Koffin Zombies pin-up calendar contest, and I am pleased to announce that Bombshell Sarah is now in the running to be Miss July!

Introducing Madilyn!

I have been sort of "on call" this week awaiting the arrival of Miss Madilyn Kate, the beautiful new daughter of two awesome former maternity clients, Michelle and Craig. I had mentioned to them during Michelle's maternity session a few months ago that I offer newborn portrait sessions, which can be done either at the hospital or in their home when the baby is only a few days old. Michelle and Craig loved the idea, so when Michelle was scheduled to be induced last Sunday, I got The Call. Finally, Monday night Madilyn Kate was born weighing in at a very healthy 8 pounds 3 ounces!

I couldn't wait to photograph this gorgeous 2 day-old this afternoon. She was simply...amazing. I have never photographed such a young newborn who was so alert and made so much eye contact with me. Some of Michelle and Craig's family members were there during the session and they were not only extremely nice people, but also proved to be a great help with posing and even props!

Thank you Michelle, Craig, Madilyn, and families for this memorable photo session. Madilyn took my breath away, so I can only imagine how you all must be feeling about her. :)

Oh! And p.s., thank you, also, for the delicious cake!

They Grow Up So Fast...

Recently, my friend, Shana, brought her children to the studio for what seems to have become their annual photo session with me. I have known Shana for about seven years (give or take) and so I have watched Auburn and Austin grow from being giggly little kids (as seen in the first photo) to now much cooler teenagers, all through the lens of my camera. I hold a special place in my heart for Auburn and Austin because of the very close relationship I have with my own brother. Like me and Zach, I can tell that these two are not just caring siblings, but even when they were younger they have always been really good friends as well, which is a special bond that only strengthens with time.

I could hardly believe it last December when I found myself photographing Miss Auburn's Sweet 16 party! That little girl I once helped campaign for Miss Sweetheart (or something like that) at her elementary school is now driving!

What really blew me away, though, was how tall Austin has gotten just over the past year. That scrappy little kid whom I used to photograph pitching for his Little League team now TOWERS over his big sister!

Thanks to these two, I now have a much greater appreciation of the old saying, "They grow up too fast." You can be sure that whenever I finally decide to have a child of my own, I am probably going to photograph every minute of that poor baby's life!

Introducing the Huntington Holgas Gallery!

Photography is not only my profession, it is still very much my hobby. A couple years ago while in Seattle I discovered a wonderful little plastic camera, called a Holga, and fell instantly in love. For those of you unfamiliar with this type of camera, it is basically an inexpensive toy camera that uses medium format 120 film. Holga cameras are quickly growing in popularity, however, as photo fanatics like myself have grown to love and appreciate the old-fashioned appearing, imperfect, analog quality images that it produces. When you look at a Holga photograph, sometimes it is hard to determine whether the image was captured yesterday or fifty years ago!

It is for this very reason that I began photographing different parts of Huntington with my Holga about a year ago. When I saw the nostalic, almost authentically classic quality of the images, I became convinced that this is the only camera that can do justice to images of our beautiful, historic city.

I am now very excited and pleased to be able to share with you some of the images I have captured over the last year in my new Huntington Holgas gallery! (Password: huntingtonholgas.) February Featured Wedding: Alana and Brian Williams

This month's Featured Wedding is one that I previously blogged about a few months ago - the wedding of Alana and Brian Williams. However, with their permission I am now happy to have the opportunity to share with you their entire wedding day, plus Alana's gorgeous bridal session.

As you may recall from my previous blog, Alana and Brian are my brother's best friends and he was Brian's Best Man, so I was especially excited to photograph their wedding. The ceremony was held in my home town of Cross Lanes on October 25, 2008, with the reception immediately following at Scarlett Oaks. The highlight of the ceremony had to be when the Maid of Honor, Sheila, forgot to bring the Groom's ring and one of the Bridesmaids made a mad dash back to their dressing room immediately after walking up the aisle to retrieve it! (Nice save, Kedron!)

The reception was highlighted by Alana and Brian's first dance, which was a choreographed waltz to Metallica's "Nothing Else Matters." Imagine, someday they will be able to tell their children and grandchildren that they waltzed to Metallica at their wedding! Awesome!

Fun Pin-Up Shoot!

Yesterday I had a blast shooting a pin-up session with my friend, Sarah, while she was getting a tattoo! I have been friends with Sarah ever since junior high and now she is an AMAZING hairstylist at Karma Salon in Bourboursville. She did her own hair and make-up for the shoot and looked absolutely fabulous.

The session took place at Tat-Nice Tattoos, located at 1327 4th Avenue in Huntington, with the persmission of Matt Hays, her incredibly talented tattoo artist. I also need to thank Saka, who is a tattoo artist and also a photo enthusiast, for being such a great assistant during the shoot!

All I can say is that Tat-Nice really does live up to its name because everyone there was extremely nice and accommodating. Sarah's photos turned out even better than I had hoped. It's nice being a photographer and having super hot babes as friends. :)

Catching Up and Looking Ahead

Well, I was afraid this would happen. I hesitated to start a blog for a long time because I wasn't sure if my busy schedule would allow me to keep up with it, and sure enough it looks as though I'm starting to fall behind. So, to make up for it I am going to post a few shots from some recent sessions that I've worked on, including:

Senior sessions for Tanisha (my exotically gorgeous Senior!) and Justin (my charming, talkative Senior!), Cara and Wes' engagement session, a portrait from the Herrenkohl family reunion (Amy Herrenkohl's family of gorgeous men), Jamiee's bridal session (my Phoebe Cates look-alike!), and the weddings of Kelly and Joe and Kristen and Scott.

I also wanted to take this opportunity to let you guys know that Courtney Bell Photography now has profiles on both MySpace and Facebook! Be sure to add yourself to my Friends list to stay updated on the latest news, specials, blog entries, etc.!

In addition, I wanted to mention a couple of things that you guys can look forward to from Courtney Bell Photography. I recently discovered that the program I use to create my Wedding Memories DVDs has the ability to export clips to YouTube!!! I haven't actually tried it yet, but my hope is to soon be showing off clips from some of my wedding DVDs!

All in all, things have been rather crazy around here, but I really wouldn't have it any other way. I'm Forecasting Stardom!

Okay, okay...so I gave this blog entry a really cheesy title, but I just couldn't resist! I had the pleasure recently of working with our local WSAZ meteorologist, Ms. Marina Jurica. In addition to delivering the forecast every weekday morning, Marina also has a great passion for musical theater. She has performed in many local and national theater productions.

Most recently, Marina performed in the Arts Resources for the Tri-State's production of "Clue: The Musical" in the role of Miss Scarlett. The performance took place at The Renaissance Center, which is where my studio happens to be located, and that is how Ms. Jurica came to hire me to photograph some new headshots for her.

I have to say, Marina is even lovlier in person than she is on television and she was an absolute pleasure to work with. I look forward to working with her more in the future.

When Life Hands You Lemons...Wake Up at Dawn?

We've been having such gorgeous weather and fall foliage here lately that I have looked forward to every single outdoor session that I have shot in the last month or so. I was especially excited to shoot Jess Brooks and Bobby Woods' engagement session last Monday because they wanted very few indoor photos. We had also planned to get some shots at sunset at Harris Riverfront Park. Unfortunately, on the day of their session the weather became cold, windy, dark and rainy. To make things worse, last Monday was, in fact, the last day that Jess would be available for an evening photo session until after Christmas! Therefore, as bummed as we were about it, we simply had to give up on the outdoor/sunset photos.

We still tried to make the most of their session, however. After getting a few studio shots with Jess' adorable dog, Chloe, we went on location to the Huntington Arcade on 4th Avenue. I have gotten some really nice shots there recently, but I hadn't realized how much natural light the building utilizes. Therefore, with the dark, rainy skies outside the Arcade was actually very dark that evening. Erg!

Still trying to make the most of our session time, we stepped outside to get a few shots at the entrance to the Keith Albee Theater. I rather like the photos taken at the ticket booth, but it was obviously just too dark outside to try to shoot any place else. So, reluctantly we threw in the towel.

As I was packing up my equipment, Jess and I were talking about how much we had been looking forward to the sunset shots. That's when I informed her that a sunrise is just as beautiful. Her eyes lit up and I knew right away that she was game! Bobby groaned a little at the thought of having photos taken at the break of dawn, but he was a great sport and we scheduled a sunrise session for this morning.

So, I have to say that I'm actually glad that our sunset session was a bust because the shots we got at sunrise this morning are simply spectacular! Its rare to have clients who are that flexible and willing to be photographed at 6:45 AM. Jess and Bobby, you guys are awesome! (P.S. Are you as tired as I am right now???)

The Wedding of Alana and Brian (my brother's two best friends!)

Yesterday I had the honor and priviledge of photographing the wedding of Alana Carney and Brian Williams, who just happen to be my brother's two best friends, in my home town of Cross Lanes. In fact, my brother, Zach, served as the Best Man, which made me all the more excited to be photographing their wedding.

First, let me just say what a GORGEOUS couple Alana and Brian are. Besides being asthetically beautiful, both of them are very sweet and pleasant and share an awesome sense of humor. In fact, their sense of humor came in quite handy when the Maid of Honor forgot to bring the Groom's ring to the ceremony and one of the Bridesmaids made a mad dash back to their dressing room immediately after walking up the aisle to retrieve it! (Nice save, Kedron!)

The reception was held at Scarlet Oaks and began with an elegant dinner. Immediately following, Alana and Brian surprised their family and friends by performing a choreographed waltz as their first dance. (They did a fabulous job, by the way!) When it was time for the Maid of Honor and Best Man to give their toasts, I have to admit I was a little nervous for Zach, but he and Sheila both gave fantastic, heartfelt speeches.

All in all, I really enjoyed getting to know Alana and Brian and cannot thank them enough for asking me to participate in their very special day.

Some Autumn Portraits Taken This Week

I know I've said it before, but I'll say it again: I LOVE shooting outdoors in the fall! I have been shooting outdoors every day this week, and several days last week as well (see Kali's Senior session blog below).

I just wanted to take a moment to share a few portraits from this past week. The majority of these were taken in what I refer to as the "backside" of Ritter Park, which is simply GORGEOUS this time of year! If you live in Huntington, I highly recommend taking a stroll through this part of Ritter Park one evening. It is truly breathtaking, and we're not even in peak foliage yet!

Putting Kali Through the Ringer!

What a fun Senior Portrait session I had this afternoon! Kali was so fun to work with and such a great sport for letting me test out some new ideas with her, even if it meant practically contorting her body at times.

My favorite moment of this session came when I was getting this great shot of her underneath the gorgeous fall foliage in Ritter Park. I was utilizing my fisheye lens, which requires me to get extremely close to my subject. I asked her to lay on the ground on her side, twist around and prop herself up on her elbow. Meanwhile, I laid only about a couple of feet from her on my stomach with my cheek practically pressed to the ground so that I could get some of the awesome red-orange leaves in the foreground of the shot. Eventually the awkward pose began to take its toll on Kali and she cried out, "Oh, my oblique!" Even as I write about it now, I am still cracking up over that one.

In addition to her ab work-out, poor Kali had to endure a fan blowing directly into her face from just about a foot away as she awkwardly sat on her knees looking directly upwards at me while I proceeded to trigger my bright studio flashes to go off into her already dry, tortured eyes. And I'm preeetty sure that laying on one's stomach on a cold, hard park bench isn't the most natural or comfortable position to be in, but Kali never once complained. In fact, she was such a pleasure to work with and I cannot thank her enough for putting up with my shenanigans. You rock, Kali!

You know, sometimes you just click with a couple, but it is REALLY something special when you feel like you were able to click with both sides of their families as well, and this was certainly the case with the Wilcox's and the Perno's. Down On the Farm with Jared

Yesterday I was very fortunate to be able to enjoy three of my favorite things all at once: Shooting outdoors in the fall, Senior portraits, and Mason County farms. I grew up visiting my grandparents at their farm in Leon, WV, so I've always had a sort of nostalgic affection towards that area. When Jared's mother, Tammy, asked if I would mind shooting his Senior portraits on their Mason County farm in early October, I think I probably responded something like, "Would I?!?!?"

Jared is on the Varsity football team at Hannan High School. After we got some shots at their farm we headed to the school so he could have a few portraits made by his locker with some of his equipment.

As we headed back, we stopped at their field so I could get some shots of him by these hay bales. I've always had a "thing" for hay...don't ask me why!

Even though Jared wasn't all that excited about spending the afternoon having his pictures taken (not many guys are), he was a great sport and I think we got some really great shots. Thank you, Tammy, for inviting me out to your beautiful farm and for giving me a hand during the shoot!

Funny Little Finney

I just finished editing the photos from little Finney's portrait session and there was one shot that I simply HAD to share:

When I opened this photo to edit I instantly cracked up! I don't even really remember getting this shot, but that's what I love about photographing babies and toddlers. I stay so busy trying to keep the child's attention during the session that I just shoot and shoot and shoot in hopes of capturing "THE" moment, because it happens so quickly. Then, when its time to go through all those shots I sometimes discover little treasures like this one, which totally makes my day! Of course, Finney's portraits on the baby chaise were hilarious and adorable anyway simply because he struck this little pose all by himself:

A Creekside Cabins Wedding

Yesterday I had the pleasure of photographing the wedding of Atasha and Laine at Creekside Cabins in Louisa, Kentucky. And what a gorgeous day it was! The sky was the bluest blue, the sun was shining, and thanks to a nice breeze it never got too hot.

After getting ready in seperate cabins, the wedding party, family and guests came together out in an open field for the ceremony. The Bride, her father and Maid of Honor arrived by horsedrawn carriage, which I thought was a lovely touch. During the ceremony, I loved watching Atasha get tickled at her Groom, as she couldn't help but giggle several times throughout. The ceremony was short and sweet and the guests retreated to the shade of the reception tent afterwards.

Before making their entrace at the reception, I had a short time alone with the Bride and Groom to take some formal photographs. It was obvious to me during that time how in love Atasha and Laine are and what a happy day this was for them.

I photographed the reception on into the early evening, but I presume that they partied well into the night because not only were they roasting a whole pig for later, but the Kentucky Headhunters had been setting up all day for a concert they were going to be performing on the grounds that evening!

I'm sure it was a day and night that they will all remember for the rest of their lives, and it was an honor for me to be a part of that. Congratulations Atasha and Laine!!!

Marley and Me

This little 1 year-old cutie was so much fun! Miss Marley is juuust on the verge of being able to take her first step. In fact, she almost did just as I grabbed this shot of her standing.

I got the biggest kick out of Marley's "Ooh!" face, though. So funny!

Marley's parents and grandmother were a big help to me during this photo session, so I'd like to send out a big, "Thank you!" to them. Who knew that giving a 1 year-old a roaring round of applause is all it takes to provoke adorable smiles and facial espressions??? Since this is my first official blog, I thought I should kick it off with my most recent news, which is that I now have a video on YouTube! My fabulous "Kelly Clarkson look-alike" Senior, Kayla, agreed to let me film her Indoor/Outdoor Combo session (actually, my brother Zach filmed it) and I edited the footage together with some of the shots from her session.
